I, Robot Movie Summary and Review
In 2035 in
Chicago humans relied on robots as there everyday helpers. Detective Del
Spooner was working on an investigation of the murder of Dr.
Alfred Lanning, who worked at U.S. Robotics, in which a robot, Sonny, was made.
Detective Spooner and Dr. Susan Calvin investigate the 3 laws of the robot and
the murder or suicide of Dr. Alfred Lanning because the robots acted
differently. The 3 laws were, one, they cannot harm a human being or, through
inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Two, they must do whatever
they're told by a human being as long as such orders don't conflict with law
one. Three, they have to defend themselves as long as such defense doesn't
conflict with laws one or two. Detective Spooner does not like robots and he
blamed the death of Dr. Alfred immediately on the robots, Nestor Class-5.
Detective Spooner and Dr. Calvin continued with the investigation with the help
of Sonny, the robot that was blamed by detective Spooner. Detective Spooner,
Dr. Calvin and sonny figured out that the problem with the robots was Dr.
Lanning’s prisoner VIKI. Detective Spooner killed VIKI with Nanites and the
robots stopped acting differently. Detective Spooner than found out that Dr.
Lanning was killed by Sonny, but Sonny kept it a secret because he made a
promise. Detective Spooner realized that robots are not that bad and he became
friends with Sonny. The, Nestor Class-5 robots were getting put away while
Sonny had come out, all the robots had stopped and looked at Sonny.
If Grade 8’s
watch this movie next semester, five questions you should ask them are…
What was the
setting of the movie?
2035.
Chicago.
Why were the
robots behaving differently?
The
robots were behaving differently because VIKI was controlling them.
Why did Dr.
Lanning get Sonny to kill him?
Dr.
Lanning got Sonny to kill him because he was VIKI’s prisoner.
Why didn’t
Sonny tell anybody that he was the one to kill Dr. Lanning?
Sonny
did not tell anybody because he made a promise to Dr. Lanning that he would
keep it a secret.
How did VIKI
die?
Detective
Spooner Killed VIKI with Nanites.
I think I robot is an all right movie. I liked how
realistic everything was, but that was also a problem. The problem is that we
now wonder if robots are really going to be assisting humans in our future. My
favorite part was when Detective Spooner killed VIKI with nanites. I also liked
the part when all the robots fighting with the humans to make there own revelation.
I would rate the movie 3.5 stars because I think the movie is interesting, but I
have seen better movies.

Rodney Brooks says robots will invade our lives
This video was about robots invading our lives. Rodney Brooks talks about different kinds of robots and what they do. Rodney Brooks also talks about how robots should be treated with respect and he also states that we are machines too. He showed us many robots and what they do example, the Roomba is a robot that can vacuum your whole house! I found it interesting how some of the robots that he showed us could see people, communicate with people, and pick things up! I also found it interesting that the first man that came on stage was mimicking a robot. If you liked this summary, you are sure to like these TED videos too.

BigDog
I think BigDog is a really
cool invention. BigDog can copy the way a dog walks. This video was all about
BigDog. It had some tests of big dog, including a man pushing BigDog and BigDog
getting back up. BigDog can even walk on snow and try to get out. BigDog weighs
235 lbs. and the machine weighs 340 lbs. BIgDog can walk through and on many
things. Two things I found interesting were that the BigDog is a good balance
for a robot. I also liked the way that it moved all by itself.

Connected, but alone?
I found it interesting how Sherry Turkle used pictures and not only words to show us that people rely on their phones or devices too much. I also found it interesting how Sherry Turkle related the fact that when we use our devices to communicate it can cause troubles.
Who is Sherry Turkle and what is her profession?
How did Sherry Turkle get the idea about sharing the thought that most people are connected, but alone?

"The Smartbird"
WHO- Markus Fischer created the robot that fly’s like a bird called The Smartbird.
WHAT- The Smartbird is a really light artificial bird that can fly like a real bird.
WHEN- The demo was created in 2011.
WHERE- The demo was filmed at TEDglobal. The Smartbird was created at Festo.
WHY- The Samrtbird was created to fulfill the dreams of flying like a bird by making a robot that can fly just like a real bird. It was inspired by the Herring Gull.
HOW- The Smartbird takes off in the air and flaps its wings like a real bird.
The Smartbird is related to information technology because it requires a lot of re-search to be made. It’s also related to information technology because to make the Smartbird you need skills with technology of computers. I liked how the Smartbird isn’t a real bird but it looks like one. I also liked that it has almost the exact same movements of a bird.
